I am using 10.7 build 11A430e and I've had very few issues at all so far but today when turning my MacBook Pro on i was asked to log in, this is normal, the difference was the User field was empty and my avatar missing.

This isn't a password forgotten issue, I know what it is, and I know what my username is, my user details appear to have been wiped!

I logged in as a guest and at system preferences > user groups I can't see my user there either.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop that I'm very happy with. They mouse and keyboard share the same receiver, so that still leaves one USB slot for you. The batteries last a long time, and the two-button/wheeled mouse seems to be what you're looking for.

I got my complete set before Christmas for $28 after rebate - I think they were moving the set up another version.

Found this on google, so these might still be around ..

    Author was simply misinformed.

    http://news.cnet.com/8301-31021_3-20059716-260.html
"Intel would not give any specific dates, but said we'd see these devices sometime in 2012."

    http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/385383/what_ivy_bridge_/
"The new chips will debut in 2012 and will be available for mainstream computers as well as servers."

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703937104576303180600624322.html
"They indicated the first microprocessors would likely be targeted for high-end desktop computers and server systems and arrive in early 2012."
yeah i mean pretty much says the same thing... production second half of this year see them in devices early next year... looks like he just left out the next year part!

They also had a similar time frame for SNB, and they were given to manufacturers really early 2011 (january)

There's this awesome show called "MythBusters" and they tested this theory out-- it is true, using the AC kills fuel economy when compared to just having the windows down.

Two SUVs were used; exact same specs, model, everything... Same exact amount of fuel put in and one driver blasted the AC the whole time while the other drove w/ the windows down. They drove around and around an open race track. Although the data was screwy nobody could deny the truth because the AC using SUV rolled to a standstill over a half an hour before the windows-down SUV did.
Who run's their AC full blast? In reality? The only time I have ever done that is when it is 110 degrees outside...

Do a simple layout. What is the rooms dimensions, the furniture? By what I see you can not fit anything else in the room so what you need is color. Get a nice little area rug that you like and use it as a base for setting the color for the rest of the room.

im not using any command :\ i just click the fah6 exe that came with it and away it goes.

ill try to launch it from terminal and whatnot and ill come back.

ill try figure out how to get the results and post them here for comparisons :)

well it's really easy to launch it from inside the terminal. after starting terminal, you have to get inside the folder that had the fah6 file. you can get there by typing "cd" and then drag and drop the folder into terminal and press enter.

once in the folder, all you have to type is "./fah6" to start. but you can also add parameters with that command.

The bus powered WD drives will transfer about 70MB/s for a sustained transfer of large files vs over 100MB/s for the full-fat powered varieties. Speeds drop a bit for smaller files.

That is for traditional mechanical hard drives. That is what I have achieved under Windows, for what it is worth.

Speeds for SSDs will depend upon the drive itself.

    Guys,

I've tried searching now for 15 minutes and the results are not showing me what I want to find.

I have a couple of CDJ1000's and 1210s and used to record my mixes via Goldwave on my old PC. I recently got an iMac and want to do the same thing but not sure how best to go about it?

Have my decks plugged into my mixer, so I'm guessing I just take the record out convert phono to jack and plug it into the line in at the back of the iMac.

If that gets the sound to the mac, what software is best to record, and then later remix by adding cues, effects, overlaying another sound file, and then converting to MP3?

    Thanks :)

Is it plugged in? If you have an external monitor hooked up, it needs to be plugged in, otherwise on battery it will automatically go to sleep.

QEMU is neat and all, but it can barely emulate an x86 system on real x86 hardware. I'd hate to see how it runs on a PPC...

I was thinking about this on my way home today.

If your driving on the highway you would obviously get better fuel economy if you turned off your A/C. But if you turned off the A/C and opened the windows of your car would the aerodynamics get messed up and reduce your fuel economy. If so by how much. It would obviously depend on the vehicle, but I'm just speaking in general.

Maybe I'll preform an experiment one of these days...

Click and Clack, the official source of this kind of information protest that using the A/C uses less fuel than the drag created by opening the windows (and really killing your aerodynamics).

    BEN

I hate to say it, but that doesn't look too far off actually. The Pismo is highly desirable as the last PowerBook with modular expandability and an excellent keyboard. It doesn't have a full 1GB of RAM or a G4 daughtercard, but it's not the idiotic buy that everyone seems to think it is. There are a lot of Pismo die-hards out there.

If I were in your position, I would chose the Mac. Now, choosing between a new Mac and a Wii...that's a bit tougher. :)

I don't know why but you reminded me that I really want a Mac Mini :(

Hey guys was wondering if there was anyone has switched back to the mighty mouse? Me I just LOVE the feel of the mighty mouse in my hand, it fits snug and is comfortable when leaving my hand there for numerous hours. The magic mouse I feel is far to low profile for me and I'm a big guy with big hands and using the magic mouse I just felt far to uncomfortable.

THe magic mouse however, (i don't want to hate on either mouse here, they are both very good) has fantastic features on it, I will miss the ability to scroll just with my fingers and to swipe back and forth using the magic mouse (being able to do that for me was just as big as using expose for the first time) but again, its comfort over functionally in my opinion and I just prefer the mighty mouse : ) I know it has issues, but I can look past them.

I'm not sure whether you have had internet access work previously at your work or not.

Have you checked which ports are active in your Network preferences? Disable all ports apart from ethernet for your ethernet set-up.

OSX networking will try and use all ports you have activated.

Are your TCP/IP settings for your ethernet port setup according to your work's network administrator's instruction?. If so, how do you test if your ethernet works? Have you tried pinging a machine on your local network?

If you can ping, local machines, try pinging an external domain eg www.apple.com?
