Steve gives the best interviews ever of any one in his position. I love watching them and I love his Keynotes! I train employees on Apple products at my work and I always base the way I present them on the way Steve presents. Ever since I started doing that I have receive non stop praise of my training skills.
I think to myself... I'm just emulating Steve Jobs, but thanks!

Anyone have an update about the line or availability at Clarendon store? Wondering if it's worth going down there.

After the recent (4/29) update, my Launchpad is empty - curious if anyone else has the same experience. Launchpad attempts to load, then quits after 1/2 second.
Not terribly excited about LP - basically I have 'applications' and 'office applications' folders in my dock which pop out icons (without disrupting my screen) I would rather 'scroll down' my apps than scroll across in iOS fashion. Launchpad really isn't very useful on a two-screen desktop either. Might be useful on a MBP - but I don't have a spare partition on mine to give Lion a try.
Edit: Textedit.app crashes too - textwrangler is fine.

It would be quite risky to sell your machine since the Dual core G5 may or may not come. Maybe even never. However, as for keeping your memory if there is a switch to DDR 2 the current DDR is not physically compatible. DDR 2 uses 240 Pins to connect and ddr uses 184 pins to connect to the motherboard.
If Apple does release a dual dual G5 I doubt that prices of a used G5 will fall by any significant amount. Since it seems likely to me that a dual dual would only be a top of the line model. I assume this since when you look at dual core AMD and Intel CPUs they are appreciably more expensive than their similar speed single core counter part (intel 3.0Ghz $175 dual core 3.0ghz $321 at newegg) . It wouldn't be cost effective to make all models dual dual core. The other possiblity that may have more effect on price would be the top model G5 being a Dual dual core model while lower end and mid range models have their dual single core processors removed to be replaced with a single dual core processor.
The only forseeable reason I could see for apple switching all models for dual core 970's is if the increased volume leads to lower per unit prices, the pin out is changed for the CPU to allow for the greater number of connections needed to switch to DDR2, and/or the new northbridge allows for SATA 2 and PCI-E connections.

The real problem is that just because they say something it doesn't actually mean they do it... Not with some "variations" in most cases... And there's a lot of room for variations in this case...

I went to Fashion Valley for the WiFi iPad. I arrived around 11AM on lunch day, walked in and bought one. I asked the Manager of the Genius group, what their stock was like. He told me they had hundreds available at 11AM. Further he said Fashion Valley is the lead Apple Store in San Diego, and as such receives the largest stock of any new Apple product.
I have purchased from Fashion Valley all 3 iPhone models on their launch day, and in each case they had a very large display.
I'll be at Fashion Valley.
Cool, Hopefully they'll have enough 3G iPad's to go around. :D

Hi all,
I have an old B/O Beogram 5000 turntable. I purchased and connected a ROLLS phono preamp to connect to output from tt. Apple store sold me an iCable to plug in to mic receptacle:confused:. Using garage band, I tried recording and got nothing. Does anyone have experience with this setup and can please provide specific hookup steps so my lps can be heard again via iTunes? Thanks.

I like the concept of the pencil and all, but I don't know, the rest of the site wasn't too impressive. For me at least. I like Flash sites and all, but the navigation in a Flash site should be easy as if it were HTML based, just with a little more "eye candy" to it. But, again, it does seem original.

And even with the hassles of city parking, it will be infinitely better than making the trek out to the Chermside store.
i recommend parking at the convention centre and walking through southbank. cheaper than CBD parking and less hassle!

What we really need is lower prices.
If the new models dropped to say, 2299 & 2799, I think there would be a lot more of us upgrading from older PowerBooks.
Apple's PowerBooks represent pretty good value but they are a bit too steep for most people these days. I no longer feel I can justify spending over 2500 for a laptop.
The SONY & Toshiba DVD-R laptops cannot be taken seriously. The media drive is way too large for the enclosures and it looks ridiculous in the SONY model. I think they just did this as a publicity stunt, just for the atention & press. The SuperDrive would be an awesome addition to the PowerBook but I would rather wait than end up with a thick, heavy enclosure.
These Toshiba drives also only burn at 1X. Well, I'm burning a DVD at 1X speed right now (I tried some new, cheaper media that turned out not to be capable of 2X) and it's ridiculous. Most Mac users actually DO things with their machines, we can wait for DVD-R drives that are actually meant to be used.

The Fratelli's.
They're from Glasgow and are pretty sweet, and they're getting pretty big. I was meant to go see them at Hogmanay but it was cancelled due to the weather.

If you ever had company, option 3 would be best. Good room for various activities and manoeuvres on the bed, you have your desk in front of your bed so you can watch stuff from your bed.

It's a trade show. In America, most educators aren't paid crap and therefore they'll be treated like crap at industry trade events, especially hojillion dollar industries like IT. They don't see you as a walking cash register, so they don't care about you. It's a sad reality - we treat our educators like dirt.

I installed the updates and when asked me to restart the machine I couldn't restart it...
First time I have to turn off the machine with the power button.
Changes? at first I don't feel anything new (maybe under the hood) but when I fired up Entourage it asked me for my credentials in the keychain, if I wanted to give access to check the mail.

I'm really bad at guessing. 75-100 people? Maybe a little less.
How's it doing now? Still growing?

Unless I'm not understanding something correctly, I was always under the impression that an unlock on a CDMA phone didn't even exist because the phone's not "locked" -- the network provider only has to add the phone's ESN to its database.
Given that these were some employees of the provider, it really wouldn't be hard to add the Verizon iPhone to its network.

but i don't know if it would be able to do data.. cell calls yes, but data out of the box, probably not.
From the photo they posted, it looks like they've got data (albeit, 1xRTT). Don't know if they had to do any additional modification to get that, though.
