Obviously fake. Look at the slanted iPhone writing on the bottom photo. Horrible photoshop skills

yeah I heard this before when early pictures and videos of the 2009 Mac mini. Then it came true. If you look at the iPad Accessories this would use the same dock that the iPad currently uses. Apple hardly make single use of accessories per product. It's varies of products. I say it's a winner to me! :D

I like it as it is in Snow Leopard.

Yes! I completely agree! What's wrong with Aqua candy blue style? It looks great and is intuitive. This gray-only stuff seems like a step backwards.

Sure BluRay has more capacity to this point BUT I've watched several things on both a Toshiba HD-DVD and a Samsung BR player and everytime I come away with the same impression - HD-DVD simply looks better. Same TV (a Samsung LCD). I've read several reviews in home theatre mags too - the general consensus seems to be (from what I have seen) that Samsung messed up and their player needs some work. Similarly - the HD-DVD camp seems to have picked better transfers for their premier discs which is helping them along.

Add to this that HD-DVD players are half to one third the cost of a BR player and all the "on-paper" advantages for BR are starting to disappear. I'm not surprised if Apple is hedging their bets....

In a command prompt, use winver. Note the version listed
EG, Windows 95, NT 4, 98, and ME are all considered Windows 4.x.

NT 4 and Windows 95/98 don't use the same kernel at all. They might share the GUI sub-system (actually, it's called the Win32 sub-system, which is probably what Windows Team blog is referring when referring to API versions, since Win32 is the Windows API) (and yes, I know the 64 bit version is called Win64, just like the 16 bit version was called Win16), but they do not share the same architecture/kernel at all, which Smitty inferred. So no, Smitty wasn't right at all, is use of the word kernel was wrong and confusing.

Anyway, the only way it makes sense again is Windows NT releases. I doubt the Windows Team Blog are in on marketing meetings. ;)

Equating destruction of physical property to turning off tv sets is a stretch.

Obviously. I was responding to the idea that is was somehow ironic (and funny) that such a low-tech device could disrupt such a high-tech show. There are many other low-tech ways to cause problems for exhibitors. You can't have an open, accessible show floor and protect against everyone's idea of a "prank." Exhibitors have to be able to trust that attendees, especially press credentialed attendees, won't make them look foolish in order to drive traffic to their blogs.

Anyway, I hope you took notice of the real point of my comment:
If pranks like these become more common, companies and trade shows will start to put severe restrictions on who's allowed to attend their events.

    That's nothing to laugh about.

The silent button is wrong, wrong, wrong.
it comes to far forward, it would need to be level with the volume rocker which is also too far back,

I like the ipad version tho....

I call yours fake. They forgot to put in the switch.

    This (black plastic)http://assets.gearlive.com/blogimages/gallery/iphone-unboxing/13-iphone-mute-volume_medium.jpg

    is different than this (hole)http://media.boygeniusreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/30951.jpg

First off, it's supposedly a picture of the next-gen phone, it's not going to have the same rocker as the current or previous model. My 3G doesn't have the same switch as the first-gen iPhone.
Second, it's supposedly photos of the CASE, not the whole phone.

And, as someone pointed out in the MacRumors thread with these pictures, there's no space for the camera flash, which the next-gen phone supposedly will have, as there are things pointing to it in the OS 4.0 Beta. They're most likely fakes. Not the best ones, but certainly not terrible either.

Before it was sooo.... hard. My wrist still hurts from dragging one single file to the Applications folder. Oh, and I just love having to pay sales tax on the apps.

I don't hate the Mac App store, I just don't think it should be a factor in the award. With that said, its Apples award and they can do as they please with it, including making acceptance of onerous terms a prerequisite to compete.

Respectfully, I think you're missing the point. In its totality, installing an app is more like:

    1) Google or otherwise search for an app. Make sure its the Mac version, compatible with your OS version, processor, etc. There probably won't be any reviews, more like select quotes from people who liked it.
    2) IF you trust that website, fill out your credit card information, PayPal account, etc.
    3) Download it and do the process you described for installing.
    4) If you need to re-install the app, buy a new computer, etc. hope that the company allows you to re-download it.
    5) If you have a good/bad experience, good luck reviewing it or rating it.

I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy and I still appreciate the ease of the Mac App Store.

For the anti-virus, yes, for office no you get the complete version, as well as MS live.

Depending on where you buy, you actually can get more "full" versions of applications then you do with a mac. I'm not knocking apple or iLife, they're great apps, but you cannot say that a new PC is unusable until you download a lot of apps and such. Dell, HP, etc all come with office and/or other apps. Yeah there's crapware installed and I won't dispute that, but you also get full version apps

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features

I don't think so. Really office for free?

Which leads me to believe Apple may be going for a design like this:

    http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2010/03/30/iphone-4g-aka-hd-mock-up-design-and-details-photo/

After the iPad, I agree. but it's an iPhone.

Their online purchase option with in store pickup is almost criminal with it's
false promises and lack of honesty...

    Please explain.

I don't really shop at Best Buy, but over the last 5 years I have used this to buy things 4 or 5 times and have never had an issue with it. I would buy what I wanted, go to the store and pick it up.

Pretty much the only way I could find shopping there tolerable.

I understand that the plans have to be submitted to local planning authorities for architectural and engineering reviews, etc. but I think I'd be a little upset at even the rough floor plans making it out on the web out of concern for personal safety.

I would hope that there are some elaborate physical security features as part of the build out. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why it's a relatively modestly sized home on a comparatively large lot size...a physical buffer zone.

I hope this is a fake. What is the long slot on the side? Is it a spot for a memory card?

I think this is for the Volume Button... not memory card slot... It will probably look like the new iPad volume button.

Ahhhh.... dude... the only Apps that don't really get approved are ones that do things that can cause security risks or just plain trying to steal your information.

Disclaimer: I am NOT directing this comment at you Popeye, it's just a comment :)

This crap about the only apps that don't get approved is a bunch of BS.

Steve Jobs wants you (using the word "you" generically) to believe this load of cow dung.

The truth is, that the only apps approved are the ones that have been looked at with a magnifying glass to be sure there isn't anything that Apple does not like. They make all decisions for their users (which includes me).

So... I'm not bashing Apple, I'm a huge Apple customer of many years and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them.

I know Apple well and I am simply sharing my viewpoint.

That's it. Nothing sinister on my part.

I neither love them or hate them. It is what it is.

I voted Skunk's post as well so that accounts for one vote.

But if you voted skunk's post and so did I, it should go up to +2. And then if I vote negative, it should go down to 0, not -1.
